Not how many countries. How long you stayed.
Michi is a travel map for iPhone. Add the cities you’ve been to and how long you stayed, or bring them in from your photos, and your map fills in. The deeper the colour, the longer you were there.
An example Michi map: 68 places visited, with Berlin the deepest square at 42 days. Five places are planned, among them Buenos Aires and Hanoi, and nine are on the want-to-visit list, among them Auckland and Vancouver.

Time shows.
Most travel apps stop at a number: countries collected, pins dropped, a percentage of the world. But a weekend in Lisbon and a summer in Lisbon are not the same trip, and you know it every time you tell someone about them.
In Michi, the longer you stayed somewhere, the deeper its square goes, until your map stops being a list of places you’ve been and starts looking like the places you actually know.
Practically local
Three weeks or more. They know your order at the bakery.
Drag to change how long you stayed in Lisbon.
-
A name is enough. Add a city and its square appears straight away. Dates, days and everything else can wait until you feel like it.
-
Squares, not pins. Each square covers a piece of the world, so nearby cities share one, and the places you know well stand out.
-
Closer, if you like. The world map shows the shape of your travels. Zoom into a continent and the same history spreads out in finer squares.
Your photos know where you went.
Don’t start from a blank map. Michi looks through your photo library for the cities you were in and when, then shows you what it found. Keep what’s right, and years of travel land on your map at once.
- Michi reads only the date and the place saved in each photo. It never opens the pictures, never copies them, and never uploads them.
- Places are matched to cities on your iPhone. Nothing leaves it.
- Nothing is saved until you’ve reviewed it. Allow all photos or only some, and change it any time.
The same history, four ways in.
Michi has four tabs, and every one of them leads back to the map.
-
Depth lives on the squares, but sometimes you just want the coastline. Switch to the standard map and your cities sit as points on real geography, or turn on countries and each one fills in whole. Tap any square for the cities inside it. Michi reopens whichever map you used last.
-
A trip holds the cities you saw on one journey. Give it exact dates and Michi works out the days, though the number is yours to change. Remember only the year, or not even that, and it still fits. On a longer trip, you decide how the days fall between the cities you stayed in.
-
Each city gathers its days, visits and trips in one place. Mark a city you want to return to, then open any visit or trip from its page. Sort Places by name, country, days or visits.
-
Passport keeps the totals: countries, cities, days away, and how much of the world you’ve filled in. When someone asks, turn your map, a continent or a single trip into a card. Your name and your planned places are on it only if you want them.

Your travels stay yours.
Your map stays on your iPhone. Want it on your other devices too? Turn on iCloud Sync and it goes to your own iCloud, and nowhere else.
